[Un]Discovers: Pause Designs

In less than a week, Sleeping Giant gallery is going to have its One Year Anniversary X New Year's Eve Party. This year, the gallery has collaborated with Pause Designs to produce limited edition t-shirts. I have seen the shirts and they are dope! Trust me, one day I will want them to design a shirt for à la mode. I am sure a lot of you will want to know more about Pause Designs, so here is a Q&A section I have with them.

I am pretty sure many people will want to know this, so how did you guys start this group?
Back in high school we'd always be showing off sketches and such to each other, trying to one up one another. The moment before it got violent, we realized we should combine our efforts, and join forces. We all had a love for streetwear and fashion, and wanted to try our hand at it. Surprisingly to us, people seemed to love what we were making. We'd sell out of a run, and take all of the money from it and put it right back into another run. Then we'd repeat.

I saw many of your print designs and love them, where do you get your inspirations from?
Do you have any graphic designers that you look up to? We get our inspiration from sleepless nights, and loads of caffeine, but some artists we admire include: Jeremy Fish, Craola, Alphonse Mucha, Kozik, Kaws, Joe Madueira, Dave Crosland, Dave Collinson, Banksy, Aaron Horkey, Peekaboo monster, Scribe, etc.

Honourable Lip Fringe Guys

There are so many Graphic Tees companies out there, what unique elements do you think you have that other companies don't?
One thing that separates us from other companies is that we're illustrators and artists first, and business men second. We have a much different style than anything else you'll see out there. Because it's just a three man company, we have our hands in every single step that goes into producing apparel. We design, print, sew tags, market, and handle everything ourselves. At one stage or another, every item of clothing has been worked on by one or more of the propietors, so you know you're getting something unique and chock full of personal attention.

The Ambassador

Since you guys are doing a collaboration with Sleeping Giant Gallery, can you give a tease to
the readers about what they will see in store?
We'll be offering extremely limited numbered runs of our favourite designs, with exclusive colour schemes only available at Sleeping Giant.

Indigestion

Now you have collaborated with Sleeping Giant, So who/what comany do you want to collaborate next?

Inner Beauty

---------------------------------------

I always do believe you need to give people some random fun fact questions to answer in order to know them better. When you read the follow answers, you may be scratching your head and wondering what they are thinking. (Some answers just caught me off guard, hah)

Pirates or Vampires?
Pirates. They have all the benefits of vampires. They can stay out as late as they want, they have crazy accents, and they get all the babes they can handle. The only difference is, pirates don't have to look dapper. They do what they want. Have you ever seen anyone buy a vampire a drink? Pirates are punk rock compared to vampires.

Panda or Bear?
Bear as in naked?

Stussy or Supreme?
Stussy. Supreme is boring. And expensive. And racist. (Probably)

Skateboarding or Snowboarding?
Skateboarding. BUT while in a snowball fight.

McDonalds or KFC?
Neither.

Your Wish Is Granted

Coke or 7up?
Coke. Only because I know that Santa Claus' contemporary visage is owned by them, so if I ever get caught usurping his identity while breaking into houses, I'd like to at least be on their good side.

Star Trek or Star Wars?
Bucky O' Hare.

Soft Rock or Heavy Metal?
Whichever is more dangerous in a given situation. I.E. Soft rock if it means I may end up with an illegitimate child, or heavy metal if I'm in the emergency room during the birth of my illegitimate child.

Corel Draw or Illustrator?
We don't know how to use either. We use spirograph.

Mac or PC?
This is a touchy subject. It would be like choosing Samuel L Jackson or Morgan freeman. In the interest of group harmony, we're not going to respond to that.

There you have it! If you want to know more about them, make sure you come to the Party on 31 Dec at Sleeping Giant Gallery! Reserve your ticket here! Remember, we will be there too!

If you want to see more designs from them, check here! All photos that are shown here are from Pause Designs, so don't dare to put them on magazine without their permission!
